Ive been out of work for a year. So i have signed up with several temporary staffing agencies near me. I was told at all of them to check back routinely to see if they have any job positions open. They also post job listings online but i was still told to call in case they get some in the middle of the day before they could post them up online that way i could be first to be considered.

Well I call in at least once a week like i was instructed to do and it seems that everytime i call the staff mainly the secretary is extremely rude. When i call im very polite and I dont get aggressive. I simply call in and state that im just checking in to see if there are any job openings and letting them know im available to work.

I dont get why the temp staff is being so rude. I understand the job market is horrid but if you dont have any jobs just say so being rude just seems very unprofessional and a bit extra to me. Anyone who has had experience with staffing agencies know why they seem to be so rude?
I also understand that they get lots of calls but isnt that to be expected?I would love to be in the secretary’s place. WHY because that would mean i had a JOB. Why act rude when its your job to answer the phone?
