I’m applying for a full-time internet marketing position for a company. But there’s a problem, some of my work history includes a religious online site that I own (and make a small amount of money from) and want to include it because I have performed internet marketing on it and believe it to be relevant work experience.

How can I include this experience without letting them know my religious affiliation? I mean, all they have to do is check out the website and they’d be able to tell what religion I am.
Please note that I am not ashamed of my religion/faith (it’s Christianity), but I see a lot of people that say including your religious affiliation usually gets your resume tossed out. Thanks for the answers so far, though.

I’ve been unemployed for over a year and I haven’t had so much as a job interview the entire time! I really blew it at my last job, I feel like such a fool for losing such a well-paying job…. I don’t want to dwell though.. I can’t seem to find anything at all, I’ve applied at every fast-food place in the area, and even most restaurants so far(I have restaurant exp. too!) I haven’t had a call back, an interview nothing…. I’ve had 3 jobs in the past all of them were very easy to get, now all of a sudden no one is interested. I want to go to a temp. agency so I can work for somebody and prove how strong of a worker I am, but I’ve looked online and I can’t find these places… any help is greatly appreciated, job offers would be revered, lol. I don’t however want any work at home spam junk! Remember I’ve been unemployed over a yr.(since 07/19/08) I won’t buy any marketing scam propaganda, and I’ve yet heard of an online business that explained what it is you actually do and how it makes you money. So not interested in that stuff, I really just want to find a temp. agency at this point…. sorry if this is long

I went to a career fair at my alma mater this morning and I must say it was quite discouraging. I have a degree in advertising and marketing and it seemed that most of the jobs there were “store management trainee” and entry-level retail management type jobs. There were also a lot of insurance companies. Also it seemed like most of the companies were STILL sending people online. (which history shows doesn’t work for me). I am a little disheartened becasue I am looking for more of a corporate-office type marketing position at an agency or corporate office. My question is…are job fairs really just a waste of time, has anyone been successful?

I went to a career fair at my alma mater this morning and I must say it was quite discouraging. I have a degree in advertising and marketing and it seemed that most of the jobs there were “store management trainee” and entry-level retail management type jobs. There were also a lot of insurance companies. Also it seemed like most of the companies were STILL sending people online. (which history shows doesn’t work for me). I am a little disheartened becasue I am looking for more of a corporate-office type marketing position at an agency or corporate office. My question is…are job fairs really just a waste of time, has anyone been successful?

Anyone have any ideas on what’s fun and not hurting your bank account to start doing/selling? Any candle-selling companies, make-up, anything else out there that is enjoyable, yet profitable?

I was laid off in mid November (the best time of year to have to look for a job) and I’m having a difficult time deciding which route I should take. I’m a young professional with about 4+ years of internet marketing industry experience, in a city where there aren’t a ton of jobs even really related to that.

I’m working on my MBA in the evenings, a decision because of stagnation concerns with the company, so between the money I have from that, the severance I got, and savings, I’m financially secure almost through to the summer, but I’m not comfortable with that.

Every position I see posted online seems to want 5-7 years of experience, in ANY field, which I don’t have. I’ve applied to numerous, and got one interview, which didn’t result in an offer.

I want to work full time again. But in light of my layoff, I upped the amount of classes I’m taking from 2 to 3 nights a week, just because ..

At four courses completed (3 more pending) with a 3.5 GPA, I consider myself too far into my program to just stop and relocate. I want to finish my MBA, maybe I’m wrong.

What should I do as far as my job search is concerned?

Am I too far along in my career to change career fields? I don’t particularly care to, but if the demand for jobs in my area is different, I’m not sure.

Then there’s the whole matter of having to start from the bottom again if I do that. I made a decent salary this year; are employers in other disciplines likely to acknowledge that and pay me a similar salary if I go that route?
