My internet only works during the night and during the day it seems to only work in short bursts. Could it be because of the heat because it is cooler outside?

The computers they have have internet but when I unplug the ethernet cord and plug it into my laptop the internet doesn’t work. How can I fix this? Is there any sort of trickery I can do to get internet on my laptop? Can you change the settings on a macbook to get internet somehow in this case?

I have a Windows XP laptop, and I have a external wireless card. It detects the connection and says that it is connected to the internet, but the internet does not work. When I try to connect directly with my modem, again the internet does not work. I know my wireless adapter works because I tested it with another computer.
